Hang Time

Tiring of the fun, but limited, 2-D horizontal bouncing pattern, Henrik has been exploring other dimensions and jumping styles.  His unbridaled joy at his new discovery is audibly evident.

Zoo Dads

Last Friday afternoon Henrik joined his dad and three other dads from their PEPS (Program for Early Parenting Support) group at the Woodland Park Zoo:  Dave (with baby Cooper), Daniel (with baby Camila), and Joel (with baby Zadie).  After an hour of grouping up, feeding, and diaper changing the parade finally got under way.

A good time was had by all, although the babies didn't quite understand the zoo concept, yet.

There was more baby watching than animal watching.

All the while one of my grandfather's favorite songs was cycling in my head:

Hey hoppy, hip hoppy hoo
I took my uncle to the zoo
They kept him there
They thought he was a monk
That's what they really thunk
They fed him nuts and junk
And he's still there

Sitting Bull

Benchmark Alert!
Henrik can sit on his own using his hands to balance:

One step closer to sitting upright.
And he's even starting to add a little style to his stance:

Henrik Hop Up

Henrik's Aunties, Beth and Jill, visited Seattle over Mother's Day and on the last night of their stay Auntie Beth suggested that we give li'l h an opportunity to try out his Johnny Jump Up that had arrived in the mail from Maga and Grandpa Larry a few weeks before.  This is the result:

No real jumping, but it was a definite hit, and looked to be promising in the future.

Since then we've used the "Henrik Hop Up" (further known as the HHU) from time to time and he has enjoyed it as more of a place to hang out, spin, and stomp around than as a jumper.  But, incrementally, he's been improving his use of the "jump up" feature.  Just last week he crossed over the line on which side we can now call him a Jumper.  As proof, I submit the video below:

Going Platinum

Henrik was born with a conehead covered in thick, curly, black hair, much to the shock of his mum and dad.

However, after a thorough scrubbing off of the amniotic fluid and a quick fluff dry with the towel, his coif morphed into a soft, straight, fuzzy brown "do" which remained for the first three months of his life.  (Most of the cone "rounded out" the first day and pretty much disappeared within a week).

As his fourth month progressed Henrik's brown "birth" hair started falling out in the front, then vanished from the sides and top of his head, and is now holding out in only a few small enclaves on the back of his head.  The newly vacant scalp has been repopulated with a slightly coarser blonde fuzz, which is accentuated by the flash in the image below. (He looks a bit like his older cousin Kash in this photo.)

It's official, Henrik's a blondie, for now.

Petting Zoo

Ok, Ok.  I know, it's been way too long since we've posted a new blog, so consider this the start of a renewed blogging verve.  Don't need to preface this video too much, it speaks for itself:  A boy petting his dog... with help from his mother.
